I'm a digital product designer led by product thinking

I began my career in film and photography where I studied the concepts of composition, motion and storytelling.

My first endeavor was a film production company based in Venice Beach, California, where I had the opportunity to work directly with leading brands such as Nike, Vitamin Water and Procter & Gamble amongst many others.

Through this process I learned many valuable skills, including how to work with large creative teams in a collaborative environment. Most importantly, I developed my own personal taste and an eye for visual composition.

However, I struggled to find a collaboration tool that was built for our company's workflow, so in 2018 I struck out to build it. My partners and I launched Assemble, a collaboration app designed for creative teams, and in the process I discovered my true passion for product thinking and UX design.

Through the process of building this product I worked deeply within every step of the product development lifecycle - from researching user segments, designing user flows, building prototypes, user testing, and delivering polished final designs. I also worked directly with a talented engineering team to build and deploy the product. Seeing this tool validated and adopted by companies like Revlon, Lionsgate, Amazon and others was my greatest career accomplishment.

As a designer, my primary influence comes from film and motion design. I believe that product design is storytelling. There's a beginning, middle and end filled with needs, desires and emotions. The product should tell this story, and no opportunity should be missed to create a connection between the human and machine.

In practice, my work is highly interactive, using modern frameworks to implement motion and interaction design into the products I work on.

I am currently a Product Designer at Scenery, where we are building a collaborative, cloud based video editing tool powered by AI.

Highlights

Building software for the Fortune 500

At Assemble our customers include many Fortune 500 companies, of whom I interfaced with directly to understand their pains and build solutions. In my role I obtained a deep understanding for how to build products for the enterprise, including user research, roadmap development, management of a development team and go-to-market.

Cannes Film Festival

As a film director, one of my greatest pleasures was writing and directing a self-produced short film entitled Shadow May Lie. This short played at the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner and was subsequently acquired by European distributor FeelSales.

Podcast Host & Interviewer

In 2021 in the midst of the pandemic I started a personal project to reach out and learn from contemporaries in the creative industry. And thus Creatives Offscript was launched, a podcast dedicated to learning from leaders at the world's top creative companies. I've been fortunate to have conversations with everyone from the Head of Marketing for Peloton to the top ranked commercial director in the world.
